YOUTRAVEL.COM SEES PROFITS SOAR

Accommodation specialist youtravel.com has reported that it has seen an improvement of more than EUR1 million in its third year of trading.
In the year to October 2009 youtravel.com saw EBITDA of Eur328,000 – up from a loss of Eur846,000 the previous year.
Group managing director Graham Nichols said: “We are delighted with this result, to make a profit in our third year in this challenging trading environment is a huge achievement. The 2009 group results (to year end October) showed excellent progress overall from previous years as we continued to grow turnover and manage our cost base.
“In 2010 this progress has continued and, despite the impact of the volcanic ash saga on the whole of the travel industry, the group is on course to make a profit of €1-€2m this year. This is, of course, after making the appropriate TOMS VAT payments as principal.”
Youtravel.com recently announced a new major shareholder, His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Saeed Al Nahayan, a member of the royal family of Abu Dhabi.
Nichols added: “This will ensure that the group is funded appropriately as we move into our fourth full-year as the UK’s leading independent bed-bank.”

YOUTRAVEL.COM SALES UP MORE THAN 50% IN NOVEMBER

Pent up demand for early winter season holidays has led to a sales spike for youtravel.com which has seen an increase of more than 50% in bookings in November against the same time last year.
Top sellers include Sharm el Sheikh, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Costa Blanca, Algarve, Fuerteventura, Costa del Sol, Hurghada and Costa Brava.
Sales and marketing director Paul Riches said: “The terrible weather here and postponed summer holiday plans have driven people to think about getting away for some early winter sun. We’re delighted with how sales have been going so far this season.
“The fact that the winter flight availability has improved so much compared to this time last year, as the industry was still reeling from the XL collapse, has also boosted bookings.
“Euro zone resorts are holding their own against those in Egypt for example as resorts have adjusted prices to make them more competitive, bars and restaurants in particular have been forced to compete more – not just with non-euro destinations but also with the plethora of all-inclusive hotels.”
Looking ahead to January, Riches added that he is expecting to see strong sales continuing for youtravel.com.
“The ruling of the Travel Republic case means that more agents are now getting involved with the DP arena.
“In January we’d expect to see sales mostly for the latter half of the winter season as well as spring and early summer bookings. The late booking trend is here to stay however we’re well-placed to capitalise on this due to the fast-moving nature of the DP market,” he said.

H επιχείρηση youtravel.com, που ελέγχεται από τον επιχειρηματία κ. Γιάννη Κεντ, κατέκτησε την πρώτη θέση στον κατάλογο των εταιριών με τις μεγαλύτερες πωλήσεις. Το 2008 η εν λόγω εταιρεία που έχει έντονη παρουσία στο διαδίκτυο εμφάνισε κύκλο εργασιών της τάξεως των 99 εκατομμυρίων ευρώ έναντι 47 εκατομμυρίων το 2007
